I'm just going to do a quick update on this piece I did a few weeks ago. It has yet to sell, but I'm hoping it will go to it's new home soon.
This might actually be a bar stool of some kind. I bought it knowing I was going to use it as a stand for my key bowl by the front entry in my small apartment many years ago. This piece has been with me quite some time, and now that I have a family, it seemed to sit in the space with the rest of our unused stuff...the guest room.
The only before picture I have of it is from when I was living in my over-priced one bedroom apartment in Washington D.C. You can see it there in the bottom right corner... all brown...all wood.
I ordered a small sample from Country Chic Paint in "Luscious Lime." I've been looking for the perfect Green Apple color for a very long time, and this came pretty close.
Just did a quick sand, and about 3 coats since I didn't use a primer. Sealed in Minwax Polycrylic, so it has some water protection.
I distressed the edges to break up the brightness of the green. For a moment there, I thought it was too bright, but the distressing gave it some modern character!
This is also my second attempt at playing with colors, patterns and textures. I like the contrast of the black & white rug, with the pop of red from the flowers.
I used my son't artwork to tie in the staging. I love how his little tiny hands can be artistic. This has to be one of my favorite pieces so far!
