Today's post is going to be short and sweet. The last week and a half has been rough between a very sick 10 month old, a sick husband, and trying to accomplish anything with projects. But since I am in the beginning stages of establishing this blog, I figured I would post a quick blog on a small game table we did in the summer.
This table and chairs actually belonged to me when I was living in a small apartment. It was gifted to me by a friend as a house warming gift and has lasted me at least 5 different moves. But moving into our new house, this table became more of a central place to store my junk, do my crafts and storage rather than a place to eat. With a new baby on the way, we needed more room anyway.
The base of the table and chairs is painted in "Bali Bliss" by Behr. This is probably my favorite go-to turquoise because it is a fun bright color and it looks great as is or toned down with glaze, which is what I did here.
The top was stripped and sanded lightly because it is topped with veneer. This is the first project where we actually stained a veneer, which I always thought was impossible. So after kicking myself in the butt for all those wasted hours of chipping away perfectly good veneer for a stained surface, I chalked it up to a learning experience. We stained the top in General Finishes "Java" Gel Stain and sealed it with their wipe-on urethane. I L-O-V-E their wipe-on poly! Its amazing!!!
Then we just recovered the seats in a cute, summery Paisley fabric that matched the base! I'm so glad that this table got a facelift. Eventually, it sold to another single, young lady who just moved into her first apartment. Hopefully it brings her new home a warm and inviting space to enjoy family and friends!
No before and after picture! But I'd still appreciate your comments!
