Back again and trying to do a double furniture reveal. I've been working on doing an update and review of using the Critter Spray Gun for my next blog. But that involves a lot of pictures, so I figured I'd do a quick post on two smaller pieces.
The first is a Queen Anne wall table (smaller than entry or console) I found at a thrift store for 1/2 off! It was a great furniture find since we were looking for smaller pieces to put in our booth while we worked on custom pieces.
My husband picked the color for this one. He figured it would be a great color to blend in with any decor and to fit a small space in a hallway or bedroom, even a bathroom. We used Fusion Mineral Paint's "Coal Black" and topped it with 2 coats (3 on top) of General Finishes HPTC in Gloss. I love the shiny, sleek look of the gloss poly. I think I'll be using it more often!
We used a porcelain floral knob in black and white.
I lined the inside drawer with this cool floral canvas paper I got at World Market. Its the perfect pop of color for such as neutral piece.
The second piece is this cute mahogany pedestal table. I knew I would have issues with wood bleed through so I knew I couldn't do a light color. Instead I choose "Damask" by Fusion Mineral Paint . It's the perfect pink for such a dainty piece!
We stripped and sanded the top because of deep scratches and we repaired some of the broken trim. The top was re-stained in General Finishes "Java Gel" and sealed in Minwax Polyurethane in Gloss.
I originally wanted a distressed look on this but the mahogany was ruthless even after shellac and turned my pretty pink into dingy orange. So I primed, painted, sealed, painted and sealed again and that killed the bleed through.
Hope you liked my two-fer! Next blog will have many more details on transitioning from hand brushing to spray painting furniture!
